Ronald McDonald House is more than a house —

It’s a family.

Imagine a moment no parent is ever prepared for: your child is diagnosed with a critical condition and needs care miles away from home. This was the reality for Lisa Carroll from Bowling Green, Kentucky, when her daughter, Kristyn, was struck by what seemed to be a persistent migraine. After many tests, Kristyn was diagnosed with Endocarditis, a life-threatening heart infection. She needed immediate open-heart surgery, requiring Kristyn and her mom to seek specialized care 100 miles away from the comfort of their home.

As they grappled with the weight of Kristyn’s diagnosis and the daunting journey ahead, Kristyn and her mom found their way to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana (RMHCK). It was here, amidst the uncertainty of a medical crisis, that they discovered a beacon of hope.

RMHCK was more than just a place to stay for Kristyn’s family. It was a community that wrapped its arms around them, offering the care, comfort, and support they so desperately needed. RMHCK enabled Lisa to be by Kristyn’s side and focus solely on her daughter’s path to recovery.

I wasn't able to stay with Kristyn while she was in the ICU. It was hard, but the Ronald McDonald House made it a lot easier.

Kristyn’s story is among countless others, each distinct, yet linked by the unforeseen challenges of medical emergencies. Her family’s journey underlines the necessity of our 40-year mission: providing essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare.

You are vital to our journey; here is where your generosity shines the brightest. Your support allows us to serve as a home away from home for families like Lisa and Kristyn. Together, we can ensure that no family has to face their medical journey alone. Your donation today is more than a gift; it’s a lifeline for families navigating some of their toughest moments.
