The moment Chloe Gage’s car was forced to swerve off the road, her world—and her family’s—changed forever.

She was on her way from Bowling Green, KY to volunteer at an event at the University of Louisville—just a normal day for a vibrant 20-year-old. But in an instant, Chloe was airlifted to the hospital with a broken spine—paralyzed from the shoulders down, her future suddenly uncertain.

In the days that followed, her parents, Angela and Chris, were thrust into a blur of trauma, impossible decisions, and sleepless nights next to a tangle of monitors and machines. They didn’t know where they’d sleep those first few nights—only that they couldn’t leave their daughter’s side.

That’s when a hospital social worker told them about Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana (RMHCK).

And that’s where you stepped in.

Because of your compassion and support, Chloe’s family found care that went beyond the hospital walls.

At RMHCK, they found relief in the basics—a warm bed, a hot meal, a place to do laundry. But they also found something deeper—compassionate staff who greeted them by name, volunteers who made sure there was dessert waiting for Chloe after long days of therapies, and a community of other families facing their own uphill battles.

They found peace, routine, and the strength to keep going.

Today, more families are walking through our doors—scared, tired, and unsure of what tomorrow holds. Will you be there for them? Your gift helps provide care beyond the hospital walls—so no family has to go through their child’s medical journey alone.

Just having that peace of mind—knowing you don't have to worry about anything—and having a place to come to and refresh yourself means you can best the best version of yourself for your child when they need you the most.

Chloe’s story is still being written. She continues her rehabilitation and daily therapies—and she’s back in college, studying psychology, and dreaming of one day helping others. Her time at RMHCK remains a part of her healing journey.

Because of you, care doesn’t stop for families when they step outside the hospital doors. It stretches into the moments that follow—into the long nights, the quiet meals, the hard conversations, and the small joys that make healing possible.

Thank you for being part of that care. And thank you for making room for the next family who needs it.

Correction: Chloe’s dad’s name is Chris, not Greg as previously stated.
