Expanding Capacity, Helping More Families
Our Ronald McDonald House is built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their heads to rest at night. In 2016 & 2017 we turned away families over 550 times because we were full. We are not okay with that.
That’s why we’ve decided to take on a major expansion project that will allow us to nearly double the number of families we can help each year. We’re calling it our “Keeping More Families Close” Campaign because that’s exactly what we’re going to do — keep more families of sick children together than ever before.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana acquired the Old Medical School Building next door to our current Ronald McDonald House in September 2016. Starting in September 2018, we are redeveloping this beautiful historic space and adding 20 new guestrooms. We’ll also be renovating all our existing guestrooms, and creating expanded living and dining rooms, a new commercial kitchen, indoor and outdoor play areas and dedicated quiet rooms. When all is said and done, we’ll have 56 guestrooms, each with their own bathroom and all the comforts of home, to help ease the burden on more visiting families during such a critical time.
This expansion project is the largest in our history and we still have a long way to go to meet our fundraising goal.
We can’t do it without you.
Keep up to date on our progress, see our construction photos here.
