15 May Happy Birthday Easton!
We wanted to share a little bit of our story and experience with the Ronald McDonald House here in Louisville, KY. We are from a very small town in Western KY called Fancy Farm (over 3.5 hours from Louisville). Our little boy, Easton, was born April 19, 2014 at Norton Hospital and was then cared for at the NICU at Kosair.
Easton was born at 27 weeks gestation and weighed only 1 lb. 70z. at birth. Our journey began as a very scary one, but we are overjoyed to say that it had a very happy ending. While Easton fought for his little life over the course of 87 days in the NICU, we were blessed to have a home away from home at the Ronald McDonald House. It was such a comfort knowing we were so close to our little boy at all times, and at the end of the day, we had a nice place to come “home” to, and even a warm dinner too!!
Our two older sons, ages 5 and 3 at the time, were also able to stay with us from time to time, and they still talk about the fun times they had at the “Ron House.” We feel very blessed that RMH was there for us at such a vulnerable time in our lives.
Our little Easton just turned one this April, and he is doing wonderful! There were very minimal complications during his stay in the NICU, and we are proud to say that he is a healthy, happy little boy!!
For his first birthday party, we asked that family and friends bring a donation for the Ronald McDonald House because we felt, in our hearts, we needed to do something to give back. Words really can’t express how appreciative we are of our time there. We hope that you can use this money here at the Louisville RMH to help other families in need. Thank you again for being there for us, RMH will always hold a special place in our hearts.
