FAMILY ROOMS
When a child is critically ill, parents are reluctant to leave the hospital. However, they desperately need a break from the ongoing stress of beeping monitors, hospital lingo, and busy intensive care units.
Ronald McDonald House Charities, with the help of the medical facilities, have set aside rooms intended to serve as a quiet rest area for family members of children being treated in those facilities.
Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are located at Kosair Children’s Hospital, Frazier Rehab Institute and Norton Suburban hospital. All services offered at each location are free of charge.
Located on the second floor of Plaza I on the campus of Norton Suburban Hospital, this Family Room – made possible through the partnership between the hospital and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana – offers a quiet respite area and sleeping rooms for family members of babies in the Neonatal Intensive-Care Unit.
Who Can Stay?

What Services are Available?
Located within the oncology unit at the hospital, this Family Room is just steps away from the patient rooms. Its two primary goals are to allow the parents to remain close to their child and to limit their interaction with others who may pass on germs or bacteria that could be harmful to their immune-suppressed child.
Who Can Stay? What Services are Available?
Located on the pediatric floor of Frazier Rehab Institute, this Family Room offers a place of retreat and relaxation for parents. Its main purpose is to give them a place to go while their child is participating in rehabilitation exercises that do not permit the parents to stay in the room.
